Derailed Screenplay Sequence-Scene Structure

This is a very useful Screenplay Summary if you are writing about a femme fatale, blackmail and a double-cross. The timing of each revelation is perfect.

Ordinary-guy Charles is having marital problems - but chooses the wrong woman with whom to have an affair. Blackmail and an ill daughter who needs money for a kidney transplant to stay alive creates tension, emotion and motivation for Charles' revenge. A determined detective pursues Charles for murder as a sub-plot. Note how every scene features Charles - this is his story. There is nothing the audience knows before Charles. This is a great strategy to create empathy for Charles - despite his betrayal of his family and getting Winston killed. Use in conjunction with Double Indemnity.
